[ murphy, you're a fucking goon and he sort of adores you. 'this is me expressing interest too?' jack can't help the laugh he lets out, and the palm that covers his face, because wow, he's never had a hook up quite like this and despite how awkward and stilted it is, he's really loving it?
it's genuine in a way that most of jack's life has not been thus far. so, yeah. he loves that. ]
[ jack wants to ask 'have you been walking around telling yourself no one would be interested, because it fucking sounds like it', but he swallows it. not the time. ]
I'm not. Promise.
I actually like you, which is a feat considering most people I'd happily kick off a bridge. So no, I'm not messing with you.
[ Good, Jack. Don't ruin the moment by spotlighting Murphy's obvious insecurities.]
alright
[ That's all Murphy types, already making his way into the elevator. The elevator lurches to Jack's floor and it has Murphy thinking that maybe the elevator is going to get stuck between two floors.
It obviously doesn't because the doors are sliding open and Murphy hesitantly steps out. His heart rate spiked the moment Jack had to be blunt about where his interested lied, one was him. It's rattling against his chest, legs felt like they were made out of jelly. Silently, he traipses down the empty corridor, only to pause at Jack's door.
He could turn away, walk back to the elevator, making some poor excuse. But he doesn't, raps his knuckles onto the door instead.]
[ part of having murphy come up to his floor was giving him that chance to duck out if he wants to. jack would hardly hold it against him, and wouldn't go prying at his reasons. so he waits, pacing around next to his door, chewing at a thumb nail. is this what not being 100% certain if someone wants you feels like? it's kind of not bad.
when the knock comes, his pacing stops, and jack waits maybe a little bit longer to answer than is necessary, so it isn't obvious he'd been waiting literally right next to the door. ]
Hey, you.
[ jack greets him with a grin, eyes bright and youthful, for once. reaching out, jack takes a handful of the front of murphy's shirt and drags him inside, door closed behind him before he can crowd murphy up against in.
it's hesitant, careful, but he kisses him, soft and slow and innocent for the most part, a palm brushed over his cheek that slips back over the short, buzzed hair at the back of his head. he murmurs a question between them. ] You're certain you want this?
[He may actually hear her clear her throat, because this is awkward, but she's just going to move right along past it. She's sort of made it her mission to check on him, knowing he feels so separated from the group. And now that things are getting back to normal, she wants to check in. Plus she's on her way back from work in case she needs to actually pop in.]
Hey. Just checking in-- making sure you're alive after all that. [And that he's sober now.]
[ It's hard not to hear the clearing of a throat. He doesn't point it out, not yet at least. ]
I'm alive. [ He sounds alive but not really okay. Murphy sounds depressed, an after effect of Ecstacy. That and his chest is swelling with anxiety. ] What's up?
[ It's a lot to take in; the week's worth of events. Raven is right. Things got really intense with them. Hell, with a lot of people and a lot of things.
Murphy tries not to sound so goddamned depressed. People with chronic depression probably should not take Ecstasy. It's great at the beginning but the crash isn't worth it in the end. Murphy has been wallowing in it, laying in his bed and not wanting to do a damn thing. ]
Yeah, I'm fine. [ No, not really. It doesn't take a genius to pick up on it. ] You need to go out and replace all the things that got ruined?
Murphy, I live in a shithole. I'd say it's on par with the drop ship only at least I had parts to do something with. There's nothing to replace, because I didn't have anything to get ruined. [She knows he never actually made it into her room, but there's not a whole lot in general. It pretty much sucks.]
I just didn't want to go back down. If you want the company.
[There's a pause where she debates if she should just come over, but decides to go with his idea since she's still going to grab him something quick. She has a feeling she's going to have a hard time getting anything without a Dominant.]
There's a burger joint down the road. See you in twenty?
Burgers sound good. Burgers are safe. Are you going to be okay getting food? [ There's worry in his voice. ] I don't know how subs getting food up here works.
[ For some reason, in Murphy’s mind, the time he takes Jack to open the door is the appropriate amount of time to consider hustling your ass back to the elevator (because obviously, they’re not there, right?). The door opens and Murphy can’t ignore the relief that washes over him. Don’t worry, Jack. He’s still bubbling over with anxiety. ]
Hey, me [ , Murphy says like the sarcastic little shit that he is. He opens his mouth again and probably to say something else stupid, but Jack catches him off guard. Murphy gets reeled inside. The door is quick to close behind him and then his shoulders are pressing onto it, slowly easing him until his back is leaning flush against it.
There’s a brief moment where Murphy is looking into Jack’s blue soft eyes, wondering how the hell things brought him to this very moment in time. It was exciting, it made his stomach flip anxiously. He felt his heart skip and then the warmth of Jack’s lips on his.
A soft kiss at first, enough to gently pull Murphy in. He closes his eyes, giving himself a moment to feel the soft zaps of electricity dance over his scalp, right beneath Jack’s fingertips.
Murphy nods before he speaks, a soft breath passes through his opened mouth. A soft puff of warmth that skates over Jack’s lips. ] Yeah, I am pretty damn certain.
[ jack feels like the dumb little over-sexual teenager he never really got to be, all raging hormones and cute infatuations. vague anxiety and anticipation and excitement teaming together to prickle along his skin, chewing at his lower lip as he takes in murphy's answer with a gradually widening grin. ]
Good. [ he murmurs, pausing here to drag another kiss from him, loving to soft, full feeling of murphy's lips against his, the brush of scruff against his skin, underneath his thumb as his other hand reaches to cup his face. jack's lips part, sweeping the tip of his tongue against murphy's lower lip, but it quickly occurs that they ought to find somewhere comfortable to do this, away from the door that wade wilson might punt open at any second.
that thought in mind, he reaches behind murphy to turn the lock (it won't keep wade out if wade wants to come up, but it can be the proverbial sock on the door), before pulling back, a hand reaching to tangle with murphy's to tug him away from the door with that same grin in place. ]
Come on. Bed's more comfortable.
[ tugging murphy along by the hand, jack leads him back to his bedroom, sitting down on the edge of it to toe his shoes off and pull murphy in against him, chin tilted up in want to reach his lips again. come here, jerk, kiss him. ]
[ Murphy is hesitant. A lot has happened and Bellamy doesn't know most of it. None of them do. It's a burden he's bearing alone right now. God, Murphy wishes Bellamy was in his place. ]
yeah shes alive. you echo emori monty and harper go back to the ground you get her out of the bunker.
