Name: John Murphy Door: Left! Canon: The 100 Canon Point: 05.03 Age: 23 Appearance: one, two & three History: Here Personality: Murphy is like sandpaper; sandpaper is abrasive. Anything it touches, it leaves a surface changed, forever. Murphy may not change your outside, but his words will leave a long lasting impression in your head, a vile taste in your mouth, and a desire to never want to him meet again. He makes no attempt to filter his words, and lacks the empathy to care about how his words will affect someone else as long as he himself remains verbally unscathed. Mercurial and intense. Murphy will always be a little bit of this and a little bit of that, and you’ll never really know what you’re going to get. Murphy’s ever changing mind will be helpful one second, but confuse you a moment later. If he thinks the odds are against him, he has no shame in ditching people he was helping before. Sarcasm and sass are two things that he has become exceptionally fluent in. He has been ready for well-timed witticism ever since he could remember. Murphy is often finding himself riling others up, and inciting irritation. However, his smart-ass attitude veils hidden depths. Sarcasm is his means of indirectly expressing aggression toward others and deflecting insecurity about himself. Wrapping his thoughts in a joke shields him from the vulnerability that comes with directly putting his true intentions out in the open. People are only allowed to see a superficial part of who Murphy is, and this is how he protects himself. His cold and cynical personality is borne of both self-preservation and experience. Murphy taking the approach of everybody will let you down eventually. He has an innate desire to bypass rules of social conduct and otherwise. Murphy is anti-authoritarian, simply put. He is always the first one to question the legitimacy of an authoritative figure before taking them seriously or following direct orders. He’ll assess, in different ways, whether or not if they actually know what they are talking about, if they are honest, and if they care about those who are already respecting their authority. He is relentless in challenging and resisting anything he deems illegitimate whether it be aggressive or passive aggressively. Sometimes wise, and sometimes not so much. At the end of the day, Murphy has become a survivor through self-preservation. There is little that Murphy won’t do to ensure that himself and the few people he cares about will live to see another day. Although Murphy is still one to be aggressive and hostile, his roughened edges have been smoothed away a little. He shows compassion, regret and guilt, but only to people that are worthy enough to see his other facets and more vulnerable side to him. Powers and Abilities: None. Inventory: None.
